EIFS / Synthetic Stucco Field ID Card
A practical reference for field inspectors evaluating exterior wall cladding. Use the interactive Field ID Card to recognize possible EIFS, distinguish it from similar finishes, and document visible moisture and damage concerns.
What the Field ID Card Covers
- Visible construction clues and comparisons with stucco and other look-alike cladding.
- Typical system components and the distinction between barrier EIFS and EIFS with drainage.
- Windows, doors, sealants, flashing, penetrations, base terminations, and visible damage.
- Photo documentation, Field Notes, inspection limits, and report recommendations.
Use the Interactive Field Module
Open the interactive field module associated with this article to view the annotated card, enlarge teaching images, complete the checklist, and prepare a report draft. Review all recommendations against the conditions actually observed before export.
Identification and Inspection Limits
Surface texture, foam, mesh, or cavity insulation alone does not confirm EIFS. Record the visible assembly and supporting documentation; identify the cladding as unverified when the evidence is insufficient.
This card supports non-destructive visual loss-control observations. It does not establish concealed moisture damage, a fire rating, structural adequacy, or code compliance. The teaching photographs do not establish a confirmed installed EIFS system.
