Underwriting Focus — Commercial cooking / NFPA

Record hood/exhaust grease-cleaning and wet-chemical fire suppression service dates separately. Fire suppression maintenance is generally required at intervals of no more than six months (NFPA 17A and applicable manufacturer guidance). NFPA 96 grease-buildup inspection frequencies vary by cooking use: low-volume churches annually, moderate-volume semiannually, high-volume quarterly, and solid fuel monthly; cleaning is based on grease accumulation. Photograph each applicable service tag. Do not assume a current tag proves the system is clean or functional.

Underwriting Focus — Smoke detection and life safety

Identify smoke detector presence, locations and available test information; distinguish individual smoke detectors from the monitored fire alarm system. Verify extinguishers, sprinkler controls, exits and emergency lighting as applicable.
